"A time before 9/11" is a painting I began in September 2000 after a visit to a Brooklyn Heights apartment. I was quite taken with the panorama from a balcony and made photographs to reference my artwork. The World Trade Centers were the focal point to the whole design.
I didn't begin the painting until after Sept. 11th, but now as a memorial to ‘a time before’ 9/11. It's creation stretched over several years.
As a sculptor and hands on material artist I believe the work will translate well into a 36 foot hand-painted tile mural which can be displayed in a public setting.
It will take 360 hand painted 6” x 6” tiles to complete. The tile diagram is shown below.
